1. Even with a new WIFI router and closer to the grill.needs some improvements 1) every time I open the app I have to wait about 15 seconds for it to reconnect to the grill.

2. In the grill screen if you go to the temp tab there is no way to get back to where you can see the current grill temp 3) unable to manually set a probe target temp without first selecting from a list of meats that have a limited temp range.

3. New update made me rebuild my account, so I had to reset the smoker and update it, now the smoker won't show me a full list of WIFI networks or won't show my network that's 5 feet away from it.

4. I have been monitor probes and adjust smoke level and temperature from church, work, the gym, and on-the-go on my woodwind Pro! Love it!Doesn't work since being "updated".

5. Since it was updated my connection to the grill and the grill to my WIFI was really spotty.

6. The whole reason to pay extra for a WiFi model is to be able to control and monitor things from the app! I've had mine for 2 years now and it's been nothing but terrible.

7. As others have said, turning your screen off or even going to another app causes this to lose connection to the grill.

8. This is completely useless and makes me regret buying a Camp Chef.Want to give 0 stars because the updated app does not work at all.

9. Every other time I go to use the grill, I have to re-pair.

10. The app disconnects from the smoker every time you change screens, then takes forever to reconnect.

11. Latest update will not even connect to wifi and keeps crashing.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Camp Chef Issues

1. Fix Camp Chef Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Camp Chef: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Camp Chef App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Camp Chef" » Open Camp Chef » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Camp Chef » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Camp Chef app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Camp Chef servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Camp Chef" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Camp Chef app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Camp Chef might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Camp Chef. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Camp Chef then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Camp Chef not working


2. Fix Camp Chef Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Camp Chef be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Camp Chef not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Camp Chef may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
