Headway Customer Insights

1. Easier to decide which books I actually want to pay for with more than just a cover and a few paragraphs to go on.Much too expensive for what you get - and then asking for in-app purchases of additional material does not feel like an "ad-free" experience.

2. I was also charged the day I signed up when I was supposed to have a free trial and never got one...Honestly, I enjoyed the temporary free content.

3. I'm disappointed because the advertisement for this app showed summaries of major books in a nice poster form meaning it look like little custom Design graphics with a bunch of key points.

4. When you download the app and go through the initial questions it was advertised that if you subscribe, then you get a 7-Day free trial.

5. And then when you cancel your subscription, they offer you an extension for 70% off - so I feel additionally ripped off paying full price for the initial subscription! Not a fan.Glitchy. Some audio will sound robotic.

6. However, I paid 19.99 for the app 6mos and 14.99 for infographics but the app hasn't registered me for either service and I'm currently on a 7-day trial then after that they want to charge me 87.00 a year.

7. Wanted to start my free trial, definitely considered paying for the whole exp.

8. Even if it's one big problem you're experiencing, break down the material search into pieces of that problem-things that built up to what it is now, and you will find the material you actually need.This app has great content.

9. But the difficulties I am having with doing the free trial is irritating.

10. I was charged immediately and I never got a free trial at all.

11. It's still presented in a good way and I like that there's audio but what happened to the little posters?I wish the trial was longer.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Headway Issues

1. Fix Headway Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Headway: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Headway App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Headway" » Open Headway: 15-Min Book Summaries » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Headway » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Headway: 15-Min Book Summaries app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Headway servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Headway: 15-Min Book Summaries" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Headway app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Headway might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Headway. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Headway then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Headway not working


2. Fix Headway Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Headway be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Headway not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Headway may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.

  • My subscription has been cancelled since July 2021, the app hasn’t been on my phone since then. I have been charged $27.93 per month since. With absolutely no replies from anyone regarding why I continue to be charged. This is over $300 that has been taken from my account with zero answers as to why. I’d like my money back and this stupid subscription gone. Customer service is ridiculous and finding a way to even have a conversation with someone regarding this has been a nightmare.

  • I was charged for the full year subscription to Headway, but have had no access to the app. Every time I got on it says I have to subscribe. It has been very frustrating so now I want to cancel and get a refund since I have been unable to use it.

  • On Feb 27 I was charged $94 even though I had cancelled my free trial. I contacted google and the developers. I received an email stating they would refund it which they did but I also received another email from google stating if they thing its a false claim they'll take it back. So on march 27 they took it again causing my account to go negative. I contacted google they emailed headway and myself and headway responded that they would do the refund. Now I can't get an answer from Google and Headway is stating that Google said they were refunding it. Google didn't take the money. Headway did. I sent Headway the email from Google stating Headway was to refund it but they act like they didn't see it and basically ignored it.

  • I've been trying to cancel the subscription for several days as I'm not using the app, I trialed it and no longer wanted to use it but I can't find anyway to cancel, I've just been charged 45 pounds, I would have cancelled but every way you have listed to cancel, e.g via PayPal, android or playstore does not work.

  • I have tried to cancel may subscription before my trial period expired! As I couldn’t find a way to do it-and i have checked App, webpage, Apple settings for subscriptions, i wrote you emails! Many times!!!

    I have respected your approach and tried my best, reached out to you, many times and you charge me the money!!
    This is the worst scam i have ever encountered!!!!
    I am a big supporter of smaller guy and i didn’t want to pay Amazon- and support efforts of someone else. And this is what i get!!!
    I do not want your services!!!! I do not want to ever hear of you ever again!!!!

    I only subscribed because i thought you provided reading books and not just highlights.
    When I realized you haven’t offered complete books, i tried to cancel my subscription but that is impossible!!!
    I want my money back this instant!!!!!

    You charged my PayPal account $59.99 on 16th jan 2021. I dont even seem to have an account or access to content on the headway app i downloaded?

They are telling that you can use free trial and then cancel subscription, however this is not true. You should pay anyway. You provide wrong information to your customers, this is not acceptable.

    I signed up for a free trial on 29th December. At the time my account would not work and I emailed you separately about this, I may not have used the correct support email address (you can see my email in the email trail). Since then, I have been trying to cancel my trial, by following the link that you list in your welcome email. Every time that I clicked the link it did not seem to register my cancellation. I emailed you also via my clare.l.burgess@redacted email address to request manual cancellation and I haven't had a response from you yet.

    Please cancel my account and refund the payment that was taken today as I have been trying to cancel my account since well before the trial ended and even then, I didn't use the service because it didn't work properly.

  • Hello,

    This morning I started a free trial with Headway but I think I signed up twice via Facebook then the App and do not want to be billed twice.

    At first, I saw your advertisement on my Facebook page and clicked the button. I went through the questionnaire and then at the end signed up for the free trial, via PayPal. There was then a button that said “download the app”. I pressed it, hoping it would link me straight in for the free trial I’d just signed up for - ie that someone had built in the necessary tech bridge to know if you’d signed up for a free trial via clicking a link that when you downloaded the app, only possible at the end of that process, it would link you in. This did not happen.

    After downloading the app, I had to go through the same questionnaire again and sign up, again, at the end for the free trial using my Apple Pay, which is connected to a different account then my PayPal. I am now worried I may be double billed - plus I would not now how to cancel the subscription I made via the PayPal method.

    I also feel somewhat deceived that Headway would set this up - it is not a positive first “user experience”. I will now be relying on your reply to this email to ensure I am not double billed. I will be extremely displeased if I am double billed and will report this to relevant bodies of I am.

    I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully this can be quickly resolved.

  • I would like to request a refund. I had my 7 day trial and did not use the app like I thought I would, I did not use it all actaully. I went to cancel my subscription to find that I had already been charged the ridiculous subscription price of almost $100. It is christmas. I am a single mother. I do not have money to waste and really need this money back. There was very little warning that you were pulling that much out of my account
