1. Going back to a word's root and checking the words generated from it is a bit clunky at times but forming a structure like that takes a great deal of planning that I don't expect from any app.

2. For years, I wanted an etymology-focused dictionary and had downloaded several credible dictionaries, but the etymology portion was never satisfactory; more of a token afterthought.

3. Google forces you to down load the app, which is full of adds and runs slower.Site has been useful resource for years so I subscribed, something I rarely do.

1. Fix Etymonline Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:

1. Restart Etymonline: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
2. Update the Etymonline App. Here is how:
   1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Etymonline" » Open Etymonline - Dictionary & More » click "Update".
   2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Etymonline » click "UPDATE".
3. Clear Etymonline - Dictionary & More app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Etymonline servers.
   1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Etymonline - Dictionary & More" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
4. Check Etymonline app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Etymonline might not work.
5. Uninstall and reinstall Etymonline. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Etymonline then reinstall.
6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Etymonline not working

2. Fix Etymonline Server issues & Internet Connection

1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Etymonline be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Etymonline not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Etymonline may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
