Ground News Customer Insights

1. It's hardly perfect, and you could argue that some bias exists even when trying to rate given articles from given sites as being left, center, or right, but I can appreciate what they're trying to to do.

2. Embedding that into the app means even less screen real estate is available, and add on intrusive ads, and only 10% of the screen is useableI have set my notification preferences three times and the app is still trying to have me turn on notifications.

3. Original: Not receiving morning notifications, very rarely receive any other news notifications either (once every few days).

4. Telling the app to show less of certain news doesn't seem to make any difference.

5. Yes, you can click an icon in the upper right of an article and it will then send you to your preferred browser, but this requires you to first load the article in the embedded browser.

6. I'd like the ability to have all links skip the embedded browser and jump straight to my preference.Close to great, but not perfect.

7. My "Local" feed keeps populating with international stories and articles about very non-local places.

8. But I don't like how it uses, as many apps do these days, an embedded browser instead of the one I set as default in my device's settings.

9. I just want it to show more relevant articlesVery cool and useful app.

10. US edition has too much local UK news, would prefer some way to reduce.

11. As for everything else, most things appear to be locked behind a paywall and the "news" is just snippet text.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Ground News Issues

1. Fix Ground News Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Ground News: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Ground News App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Ground News" » Open Ground News » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Ground News » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Ground News app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Ground News servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Ground News" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Ground News app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Ground News might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Ground News. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Ground News then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Ground News not working


2. Fix Ground News Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Ground News be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Ground News not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Ground News may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
