4. These will be restored soon in a future update, without any action required on your part. - The ability to sort species alphabetically by last name in the field guide. - Improved performance when searching and browsing lists of species, including the ability to quickly jump to a letter of the alphabet.
5. With our completely redesigned Sightings feature, you can keep a record of every bird you encounter, whether you're hiking, sitting on the porch, or simply catching a glimpse of birds out the window.
6. The National Audubon Society protects birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education, and on-the-ground conservation.

8. Audubon's state programs, nature centers, chapters, and partners have an unparalleled wingspan that reaches millions of people each year to inform, inspire, and unite diverse communities in conservation action.
9. With over 2 million downloads to date, it is one of the best and most trusted field guides for North American birds.
10. Built for all experience levels, it will help you identify the birds around you, keep track of the birds you've seen, and get outside to find new birds near you.
11. Keep up with the latest news from the world of birds, science, and conservation, right on the home screen.
1. I'm not a "birder" so appreciate the ability of the app to use my location, time of year, and bird characteristics (size, type, etc.) to identify the birds I am seeing.
2. I have used it to identify birds, but honestly entering a brief description of the bird I've seen into a Google search then scanning the images that come up has worked just as well.
3. I've also found that playing the calls included for the bird really brings them in to investigate the "stranger" in their territory so I can get a nice, close look at them.I I'd really rather download this app to my laptop rather than my phone.
4. My main issue right now is that when I go to set the location of the Field Guide and select my state, the 'Save' and 'Close' buttons don't work, and I get stuck on that screen.
5. You can put in a bunch of different information about a bird you see (location, colors, size, type of call, etc...) and it gives a list of possible matches.
6. The downloaded field guide data periodically disappears with no warning, making the app kind of useless in remote locations.
7. When I had it installed on my phone I also had the issue of not being able to change locations for spotting birds.
8. But as far as a field guide to North American birds, and their calls, I feel so lucky to have come across this.
9. When you save it then open Sightings and look at the same sighting, the map marker is nowhere close to the correct location.
10. I love the amount of pictures this app has and the recorded bird calls you can listen to.
11. I haven't been using the sighting features, so I can't comment on how well that function works.
