1. It's just fine on the phone, but it's completely unusable on the tablet - loading some pages can take 10 seconds, the menus are transparent for some reason, the font and background color settings just don't work (even though presets do.) And the app had difficulty importing 3 books on the tablet, which worked just fine on the phone.I downloaded Leaving College: Rethinking the Causes and Cures of Student Attrition, and ALL of the pages are blank.

2. The app lacks clear, detailed directions for using it, where do I put my books so the app can find them? In external memory I hope (even Kindle still does that)! Because internal memory is super limited and external memory saves that valuable space for the apps themselves.

3. When I submit this review, I'm going to force close and delete the app and load Aldiko Classic instead.The new update is quite awful -though it's difficult to give a rating when the app allows for set up then in the next sessions, it doesn't even open.

4. Don't allow automatic updates if you can possibly avoid it!!New version is completely different on my phone and my tablet, both running Android 9.

10. Now it's full of ads and my books were no longer accessible! I couldn't access dozens (maybe hundreds) of books, and without the app giving any warning or permission to update.

11. I would love to give Aldiko Next a good recommendation, but I can't even try it as is now.My phone auto-updated Aldiko Classic to Aldiko Next.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Cantook Issues

1. Fix Cantook Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Cantook: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Cantook App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Cantook" » Open Cantook by Aldiko » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Cantook » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Cantook by Aldiko app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Cantook servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Cantook by Aldiko" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Cantook app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Cantook might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Cantook. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Cantook then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Cantook not working


2. Fix Cantook Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Cantook be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Cantook not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Cantook may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
