1. Manually connect the child's device to the computer, but then the monitoring is done over your WiFi network...unless the connection doesn't work, then send an email for support.

2. Setup is very difficult: if you want to monitor a child's device, you need to install a program on a computer, but it has to be Windows or Apple, no Chromebook.

3. Since then, the VPN feature, which is required to make the app work, has turned my child's phone Samsung Galaxy S7 into a brick.

11. Hence, the app is useless because they have to turn the VPN off in order to actually use the phone, it's features, or apps.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Bark Issues

1. Fix Bark Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Bark: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Bark App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Bark" » Open Bark - Parental Controls » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Bark » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Bark - Parental Controls app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Bark servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Bark - Parental Controls" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Bark app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Bark might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Bark. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Bark then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Bark not working


2. Fix Bark Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Bark be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Bark not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Bark may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
