BirdPro Customer Insights

1. Would be great to see this app upgraded to contain Southern African birds, like other popular bird apps, rather than just South Africa, but overall well worth the price.

2. The search function is great! The detailed writing, photos, distribution maps and UI are also well done.

3. Distribution maps based on SABAP2 are great and the monthly sightings for migratory species is a fantastic touch.

4. I am just a tad bit disappointed that there are quite a lot of bird calls missing (compared to Roberts)- don't know if it might be a glitch on my app only? But still using Roberts in conjunction with BirdPro for now.Love this app.

5. Great selection of photos for each species, the calls are broken down nicely into the different types and are clear.

6. I can type something into the search box, for instance "barbet", and the first 6 recommendations don't have anything remotely connected to "barbet" in them, including Booted Eagle, Black Heron and Bar-throated Apalis.

7. The id/search function works well, there are lots of high quality photos for every bird, and the text is informative.

8. It's a pity it's only for South African birds, not Southern African birds like Roberts.

9. If I use the app to plan a trip, after viewing 20+ birds it becomes so slow I need to force stop before I can continue.

10. Also had no technical issues on my android device.Multiple crashes every time I filter location.

11. So easy to use and incredibly helpful in identifying several birds we saw in the Kruger.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix BirdPro Issues

1. Fix BirdPro Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart BirdPro: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the BirdPro App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "BirdPro" » Open BirdPro » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for BirdPro » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear BirdPro app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from BirdPro servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "BirdPro" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check BirdPro app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, BirdPro might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall BirdPro. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall BirdPro then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing BirdPro not working


2. Fix BirdPro Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make BirdPro be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to BirdPro not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, BirdPro may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
