1. Unlike other apps based on Whitaker's words, this is a port of the original code rather than simply using the dictionary, and therefore essentially feature complete compared to the desktop program.
2. Words has an extensive dictionary of the Latin language as well as the capability to recognize various morphological forms and determine what the root word is as well as the what form it is in.
3. This is a port of William Whitaker's words program to android.
4. This app is ad-free, open source, and requires no permissions.
1. If you know how to read a Latin dictionary, Whitaker's Words is natural and easy to use and gives far more information than any other translator app.Only wish there were a quicker way to switch between English and Latin.
2. (Word Reference has this feature.) But it's a fantastic, utterly simple, and incredibly useful app. After the most recent update it no longer works! It kept complaining "failed to execute words"! I am on Pixel 6 pro with Android 13.
3. I only get the error message: "Failed to execute words!".This got me through high school Latin and is still useful for continued Latin studies.
4. Update fixed it! Thanks for the author for being so responsive! Now it works well.I teach Latin at the middle and high school levels and I use this app every day.
5. It's a no fluff strict translation listing all the aspects of a word (mood, voice, declension, etc).Just a brilliant Latin App.
6. I recommend this app to my students all the time and I think it would be helpful to anyone interested in translating Latin.Do not upgrade! App stops working.
7. Just FYI, if you do decide to spend money on an alternative to the free app, does not make you a better student/speaker.Straight forward explanations, veeery objective and easy to manage.
8. Otherwise excellent port! This is one of the best Latin dictionaries.
9. My only wish is that it would save recent searches or allow starring/highlighting of entries so that one could make a list of vocabulary for review.
10. In short, a must.Excellent. Does what it says, works flawless and has absolutely zero ads.
11. Where would I be without this app? I like to pray the Breviary in Latin.
