  • Please Delete my account and all information attached to it.
Auspost collects significant personal information and yet it is the most insecure app I have ever used. It is impossible to permanently log out or deactivate/delete my account using your app or website.

When I log out of the app and uninstall it, any stranger with access to my phone can download the app and it automatically logs in to my account with no saved password no confirmation of my screen lock or any other security measure. I discovered this trying to log out of an unused account to log in to the account I use most often. This is impossible. Which is frustrating. But automatically logging in to my account without any check / entering a password undoes all of the security efforts auspost goes to in the creation of the account. It is unbelievable. The postal service and privacy of mail is governed by federal law all of which is entirely pointless when your service automatically volunteers the information of the individual without any bad actor or Ill intention required.

Thankfully in addition to my Australian permanent residency I am an EU resident and citizen (republic of Ireland) and am therefore entitled under the GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation, to instruct you to erase all information associated with this account (which I do not use anyway) or face fines for violation of this request.

I strongly suggest however, in your own interests, that after you delete my account and data. You fix the issue with your app and website before customers are taken advantage of.

I have no choice but to use auspost in the future and it would be preferable if doing so did not risk identity theft, blackmail or other crimes your app facilitates.
