1. In creating ScratchJr, we redesigned the interface and programming language to make them developmentally appropriate for younger children, carefully designing features to match young children's cognitive, personal, social, and emotional development.
2. ScratchJr is an introductory programming language that enables young children (ages 5 and up) to create their own interactive stories and games.
3. As young children code with ScratchJr, they learn how to create and express themselves with the computer, not just to interact with it.
4. ScratchJr was inspired by the popular Scratch programming language ( ), used by millions of young people (ages 8 and up) around the world.
5. With ScratchJr, children aren't just learning to code, they are coding to learn.
6. Children can modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, even insert photos of themselves -- then use the programming blocks to make their characters come to life.
7. Children snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing.
8. ScratchJr is a collaboration between the Developmental Technologies group at Tufts University, the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab, and the Playful Invention Company.
9. If you enjoy using this free app, please consider making a donation to the Scratch Foundation ( ), a nonprofit organization that provides ongoing support for ScratchJr.
10. In the process, children learn to solve problems and design projects, and they develop sequencing skills that are foundational for later academic success.
11. The graphics and illustrations for ScratchJr were created by HvingtQuatre Company and Sarah Thomson.
1. They have spent hours creating in this app building a foundation of digital design to build on.umm good game though I can't understand why I can't install scratch not scratch Jr, anyway I find it hard (bieng a kid) that people think all kids think about are rainbows and that kids can't do much ect.,ect., so this game only allows me to create 4 game slides I'm just not loving it as much as I loved scratch...pls improve .This App is Very Good For Learning Computer Coding, althought It is the Kids Scratch / Old Type (NOT GIVING HATE) it is Very good app.
2. This app seems pretty good, but the drawing part has a glaring bug: the brush doesn't line up with where your finger touches the screen.
3. OVERALL it is a Good app For Kids.
4. The little one loves to draw and create characters, put them on the stage, and move them around.
5. Problem is when i Make a Project, And After Some Time I try to open it, I can't Open it is Hanged or something.
6. I think I figured out why: if you zoom all the way out before drawing, then it lines up.
7. I think the problem is the developer isn't accounting for the transform of the canvas correctly.
8. My big kid loves to make simplified versions of games he likes.
9. They quickly started experimenting and doing things on their own.
10. Please fix =)My 8 and 3 year olds love this.
11. We started out playing around together and seeing what we could do.
