Zmodo Customer Insights

1. I think most people would agree that getting notifications on motion alerts as soon as they happen is one of the most important things with a camera system.

2. 3) All text alerts seem to take a long time to get to get to my phone (30 secs or more).I'm reviewing the app, not cameras nor software.

3. They save every motion, for an entire week, free.Not great! Initial connection to cameras was pretty easy.

4. I love the ability to view the cameras both live and recorded on my phone.

5. The app however, is terrible and has only become worse! Fail to connect, fail to open up on my phone and choppy playback.

6. It takes too long to search through to find activity.I like the timeline layout in the alerts area, it helps to visualize when alerts were happening in relation to each other.

7. If interrupted by a new phone, or wifi changes, it is almost impossible to reconnect the cameras.

8. There are many users/ subscribers of this device so Zmodo, please get your Sh!# together and update the App/ software to remedy these issues! Could be a five star but only giving 2 due to the many " fixable" issues.I like the layout and look of the app.

9. Tried to use QR Code method... Nata...!I have purchased several of these cameras and they work fine.

10. I like the ability to view four cameras at a time.

11. Secondly, playback is 10 seconds long, doesn't record on every motion, and only saves less than 12 hours of anything.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Zmodo Issues

1. Fix Zmodo Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Zmodo: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Zmodo App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Zmodo" » Open Zmodo » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Zmodo » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Zmodo app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Zmodo servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Zmodo" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Zmodo app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Zmodo might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Zmodo. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Zmodo then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Zmodo not working


2. Fix Zmodo Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Zmodo be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Zmodo not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Zmodo may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
