SmartRent Customer Insights

1. The settings change randomly and when I change them directly on the thermostat it doesn't reflect it in the app..... constantly asks me to connect to a network but can never find one when I try.... great concept, but needs basic improvements to even be functional.Horrible app overall and the latest update made it worse.

2. It logs you out every second you get, it take forever to load, and it doesn't work when adjusting anything or unlocking doors half the time.. which makes the app terrible at what it was made for.The app only works half the time.

3. A waste of time and money not worth the monthly feesCan't log in because the "create password" link loads and then instantly redirects to the Play Store page, even when the app is already installed, in both Firefox and Chrome.

4. Thermostat device in app is longer in sync with the actually thermostat and can't be controlled even after force quitting the app, clearing cache, and restarting the phone.

5. Constantly out of sync with smart lock and thermostat.App completely stopped working for me.

6. The thing is.. for a smart home function to work, you'd think that it would be convenient to be and to lock doors away from home or turn lights on and off.

7. App never seems to match thermostat now.The idea of SmartRent is great.

8. Every company pushes you to download their app when it could just be a website, but SmartRent is pushing so hard it actually broke their product!Door control is off sometimes.

9. It has always been hit or miss befprwy, but now it is completely useless.6 months later and app still doesn't work.

10. Tech does not make everything better.I've been dealing with this sorry app for over a year now and it's still not working correctly like everyone else states when my systems are completely off they still read on threw the app.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix SmartRent Issues

1. Fix SmartRent Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart SmartRent: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the SmartRent App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "SmartRent" » Open SmartRent » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for SmartRent » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear SmartRent app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from SmartRent servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "SmartRent" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check SmartRent app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, SmartRent might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall SmartRent. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall SmartRent then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing SmartRent not working


2. Fix SmartRent Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make SmartRent be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to SmartRent not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, SmartRent may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
