5. This app has no affiliation with Twitch, this is a user-made app, but is only possible because Twitch provides all the API that allows the app to show Twitch content.
1. I'm docking 2 stars in my score due to the instability of the app (as well as the somewhat complicated interface; especially when it comes to adding channels to my home screen, which I still have not figured out, not to mention it appears you have to go into the app just to get any channels you may have added to your home screen to refresh/update), but adding 1 star back due to supporting functions that Twitch still has not added to the official app on Shield TV devices. This is the best Twitch app for Google TV.
2. I don't use this app very much (usually only when supporting other streamers with a lurk to add to their viewers), but I noticed the official Twitch app was kicking me out on BOTH of my Shield TVs on 3/21/2022 & decided it was time to authenticate my primary account in this app as an alternative to the clearly busted official app (which I will be using until Twitch can fix the official app on Shield TVs).
3. is this a problem on my end or is this a known thing and will be fixed soon? thanks! For whatever reason this is app actually plays Twitch streams on my AndroidTV (Philips 49PUS7101), whereas Twitch's own AndroidTV app doesn't work at all (only a black screen when starting a stream/VOD).
4. This app also offers additional functions on a Shield TV device that still has not been added in the official app (the official app being severely behind on functions added to Twitch over the last couple years).
5. Is there a fix for this? When you install official Twitch app on your new TV and you are presented with bad picture, skipping streams, low volume and laggy interface - first you think something is wrong with your TV.
6. I don't understand why that bottom channel selection menu even exists when there is a perfectly fine side menu to the left that could be pulled out by pressing left instead.
7. The channel selection menu that appears when pressing up while a stream is playing is downright confusing.
8. The left navigation menu is accessed by pressing left and is an overlay that is displayed over an already playing stream.
9. Several times I had a hell of a lot of trouble adding channels I wasn't following to the multistream view because they were buried several pages deep into a game's category and because there is no way to either do a simple channel search or directly add a channel by name.
10. What is the line containing "Games, Features [game name], Live" etc at the bottom? What do the up and down arrows indicate? Are those filters where the further down the line you go the more narrowed down the selection of channels is? Or are they categories and the up and down arrows are a really weird way to indicate which one is selected? Either way, that function is incredibly ineffective and tedious to use.
11. Here are my suggestions to make this app a lot better to navigate : Stream controls (video scroll bar, follow, speed, quality, etc) are accessed by pressing down.
