1. This app takes the cake for these categories! Not only can you customize budgets and transactions, but Emma will also automatically put the transactions into the budget it's meant for, so you just have to occasionally correct it! This is very different from EveryDollar, which is significantly more expensive and forces you to manually place each transaction in a budget.I love Emma! I was searching for a good app to help me keep track of my 1.

2. I'm on a budget afterall, therefore needing to trim excessive/nice to have spendings :)After trying an exhausting number of budgeting app, both paid and free, I found Emma to best fit my budgeting needs.

I'm also able to have my husband signed into my account on his phone with his own pin/fingerprint.Syncing (rarely works when I want) and customer service is terrible, they are rarely available and email days later! I definitely wanted to like this, especially since I paid $60 but I decided to finally make a switch to a new budgeting app.

4. The app does not sync with my bank account for weeks at a time, rendering the amount shown in each of my accounts absolutely useless since it is not accurate.

5. It's asthetically pleasing, easy to understand and operate, and best of all free! Only reason it's not a 5 star is because it doesn't update my transactions as often as I'd like, but even that's gotten better with time.

11. If every feature when I used it worked I'd pay, but the tracking of overall accounts never seemed correct, and it wouldn't categorize very well, I couldn't bulk edit or setup rules.

Steps to Troubleshoot & Fix Emma Issues

1. Fix Emma Not Working/Crashes/Errors/Unresponsive & Black/White screen:


  1. Restart Emma: Restarting the app will resolve most errors.
  2. Update the Emma App. Here is how:
    1. On Android goto PlayStore » Search for "Emma" » Open Emma - Budget Planner Tracker » click "Update".
    2. On iPhone, goto AppStore » Your profile » Available Updates » Check for Emma » click "UPDATE".
  3. Clear Emma - Budget Planner Tracker app cache: Clearing cached data will force your app to retrieve the latest data directly from Emma servers.
    1. On Android, goto Settings » Apps » Select "Emma - Budget Planner Tracker" » click Storage » click "Clear Cache".
  4. Check Emma app permissions. If any of these permissions required to use your device's features are disenabled, Emma might not work.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Emma. If nothing else has worked, completely uninstall Emma then reinstall.
  6. Restart your device. Last, restarting your device can often clear most problems causing Emma not working


2. Fix Emma Server issues & Internet Connection


  1. Check network connection: An unstable Internet will make Emma be unable to connect to it's servers. Ensure your wi-fi is working then restart app.
  2. Disable VPN: VPN can cause connection errors and lead to Emma not working. Make sure all VPNs are off
  3. Enable background data: When Background data is turned off, Emma may not be able to connect to the Internet when running in the background.
